
First Flight 5/26/07 |
As many of you know, I have spent the last 2 years and 4 months living a lonely, monastic existence working away out in the garage building an airplane out of yarn, recycled aluminum cans, chewing gum, and bailing wire (whatever that is). Final assembly was done in two amazing weeks at the Glasair factory (Glasair is a kit plane manufacturer that had a lot to do with my success). Well it was finished a couple of weeks ago and inspected and found airworthy by our friends from the government, the FAA.
My friend and fearless pilot, Arnie Clarke, kicked the tires and decided it looked like it would probably fly and on Saturday May 26, 2007 he took it skyward...for a great first flight. It performed wonderfully...a few squawks, but no show stoppers. The next day, I flew it with Arnie by my side. Wow...what a ride! You can see this flight for yourself on YouTube at:
